Egypt Expresses Optimism for Gaza Ceasefire
This statement came during a press conference in Cairo, where Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty was joined by German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Alabali-Radovan.
Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's "sincere efforts to quickly reach a ceasefire in Gaza" and stressed the critical need for humanitarian and medical aid to be allowed into Gaza, especially as the region faces a growing famine.
He condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression, describing it as blatant, unacceptable, and crossing all boundaries.
Regarding Gaza's reconstruction, Abdelatty revealed that Egypt has completed its comprehensive plan for rebuilding Gaza in coordination with the US, the World Bank, and the Palestinian government.
This Egyptian-led initiative, which was approved by Arab countries in March, focuses on restoring essential infrastructure.
Abdelatty also mentioned that a date for the Cairo conference on Gaza’s reconstruction would be announced once a ceasefire is achieved.
The conference will include discussions on various topics, including security arrangements, governance, and the administration of the Gaza Strip.
He further emphasized that the priority in the first six months post-ceasefire would be focused on early recovery efforts, with a special emphasis on stabilizing the Palestinian population in Gaza.
