Chen Chong Directs WP Abrasive Development and Manufacturing at Wanpo

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, October 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- SUZHOU, China — Suzhou Wanpo Grinding Material Co., Ltd. is coordinating product development, production quality and raw material supply for its WP abrasive tools under founder and general manager Chen Chong. The company's 2026 priorities connect application requirements with manufacturing plans, while Chen's documented work includes abrasive drive equipment design, customer project reviews and production oversight.
The manufacturing priorities were discussed at an annual planning meeting Chen chaired on Jan. 5, 2026. Company minutes identify product development and quality throughout production alongside supplier planning, workplace safety and automation improvements. The meeting called for departmental responsibilities and deadlines, with weekly follow-up, monthly reviews and quarterly assessments.
The 2026 plan calls for coordination among research, production and market teams, including work on raw material availability and process consistency. Departments were asked to assign responsibilities and schedules to development projects. Chen's review of the plan connected those projects with supplier preparation, manufacturing capacity and the quality requirements for products moving through production.
Wanpo's catalog shows how the range varies by application. Flap discs are offered with aluminum oxide, zirconia alumina and ceramic abrasives. Flat T27 and conical T29 versions provide different contact arrangements for surfaces and edges. Dimensions and grit options vary by family, allowing an order to specify the product configuration being considered for a particular operation.
Other product formats address different access and finishing requirements. Mounted flap wheels carry abrasive flaps on a shaft for use with compatible equipment. Cartridge rolls provide a smaller rolled format for restricted areas. Nonwoven products, quick-change discs and abrasive belts broaden the catalog to include cleaning, blending and finishing applications as well as material removal.
An abrasive order specifies more than a general grinding or polishing task. The workpiece material, available tool clearance, mounting method and required finish affect which product a buyer evaluates. Wanpo's catalog provides codes, dimensions and grit selections to support that process. Product and production teams then need matching specifications when preparing samples, planning materials and organizing inspection.
Chen's technical work includes the utility model titled "A Rotary Drive Device for Flap Disc." The China National Intellectual Property Administration granted the patent on June 23, 2023, under publication number CN219234985U. The certificate names Chen as inventor and Wanpo as the patent holder. The underlying application, numbered 202223372946.X, was filed Dec. 15, 2022.
The patent describes a motor-driven assembly with a mounting slot, a replaceable rotary shaft, a retaining mechanism and cooling fans. Its specification addresses the difficulty of removing a flap disc from conventional drive equipment and heat generated during operation. The described mechanism is intended to facilitate shaft replacement, while the fans provide cooling around the drive assembly.
Drive equipment is part of the application discussion alongside the abrasive itself. The tool must be matched with its mounting arrangement and the work being performed. Wanpo's patent concerns the drive assembly, while its catalog separately identifies abrasive materials, disc configurations and product dimensions for particular grinding and finishing tasks.
Chen also reviewed an application-specific development project at a March 1, 2024, meeting concerning the polishing of aluminum alloy railcar components. The team examined material selection, flap disc dimensions, quotations and samples prepared for testing. Company minutes record Chen directing departments to revise proposals in response to the discussion.
The project review linked engineering proposals with pricing and sample preparation. Chen requested a date for the next review involving relevant departments. Subsequent production decisions were to be informed by the planned tests, including how the materials and flap disc dimensions would perform on the aluminum alloy components.
For flap disc manufacturing, the catalog's WP-SMT illustration identifies backing plate placement, adhesive application, and cutting and placing abrasive flaps. The sequence also includes flap alignment, camera monitoring and arranging products on rods. These are distinct production stages to be coordinated before a finished disc reaches the customer.
At a July 1, 2024, production meeting, Chen instructed colleagues to report production progress and quality issues daily, follow equipment repair and replacement plans, and provide updates. The agenda covered flap disc, mounted flap wheel and cartridge roll production, linking the product range with equipment availability and inspection responsibilities.
Chen has also presented application information to an industrial equipment audience. The official program for the 60th China National Pharmaceutical Machinery Exposition identifies him as the speaker for Wanpo's May 11, 2021, session on grinding and polishing pharmaceutical equipment. The scheduled hour-long session covered abrasive products, machinery and consumables used in equipment manufacturing.
The organizer's session description focused on grinding and polishing problems encountered in equipment production and the selection of machinery and abrasive materials. The topic brought product information into an application setting, covering the tools and consumables used to treat equipment surfaces. It reflects the same relationship between end-user requirements and abrasive selection addressed in Wanpo's product catalog.
The company received U.S. trademark registration for its blue-and-yellow WP mark on Feb. 10, 2026. Registration No. 8,134,444 identifies Wanpo as the owner and covers goods in international classes 3, 7 and 8, including abrasive preparations, specified machinery and hand-operated tools. The certificate records the brand registration; individual product specifications appear in the company's catalog.
Wanpo also holds trademark renewal documents for the United Kingdom and European Union. The UK renewal certificate was issued June 25, 2025, extending registration UK00914821441 to Nov. 22, 2035. The EU renewal notice records the renewal of trademark 014821441 on June 30, 2025. These records form part of the company's overseas brand administration.
The WP range will also feature in the company's planned FABTECH 2026 participation, with Wanpo listed at booth S46092 in Las Vegas Oct. 21–23. Customers can review the English-language catalog and contact the company about product dimensions, abrasive grades and application requirements. That information supports discussions about particular tools and the manufacturing work behind them.
